Block of the Month

Block of the Month Pattern Block One 5440 or Fight

I have decided to use patterns that have only 3 colors.  I am using Darks, Mediums and Lights in these blocks.  The project is to use all the same 3 colors in the same fabrics for each block.

Block 1 is  called "5440 or fight" and the pattern is available  at  www.quilterscache.com.  This is Marcia Hohn's site.
It is a traditional block and here is a picture of my block 1.

I think this is going to be a beautiful quilt.  I have all my blocks picked out and I will be giving the block info out on the first of the month if not on the second. (Sorry to be late with this!)  This block is a 12 inch  block.

When you finish your block please post a picture for me.  I am going to set up a place to keep all our pictures in.

This is my first BOM that I have  set up and hopefully there will be many more.  I will be back next month, so have fun!

Block of the Month, Block Two, Contrary Wife

This is Block 2, Contrary Wife.

This block is also on Marcia Hohn's site Quilterscache.  I am having a little computer trouble, but I am going to go try to get you a direct link.  Well, could not get on her site, don't know why but this is
a very easy block to make and here are my instructions:

1.  Cut 5 solid color blocks 4 7/8" square.  (Refer to my picture of red blocks to place)

2.  Cut 2 of each of the next 2 colors(4 7/8 each).  Place one of each color together and draw your
diagonal line on the back of the lightest one. Then sew your 1/4" seam on either side of the
drawn line.  (If you have another method of making half square triangles then use whatever
method you prefer to make the 4 half-square triangles.
3.  Now all you have to do is place the blocks in order looking at my block above and you will have
your block done in no time.

Sorry to be late getting this posted for you.  Please let me know if you have any problems with any of these instructions.

I sure wish I could get some feedback on this BOM.  Let me know if you like it, if it is too slow or just anything.  If you can send me a picture of your block to quiltlikecrazy@hotmail.com I would
love to see it.  Please remember to use the same 3 fabrics for block 2 as you used in block 1.

I also apologize for getting the name wrong on block 1.  It was 5440 or fight and I previously called it the contrary wife.

Well, back to other things now.  I think this will make a beautiful quilt but it will be a while before I can post the picture to show the finished design.

The above link will take to Marcia Hohn's quilterscache for this block.

Block of the Month, Block Three All Hallows Variation

Here it is the first of the month again.  I have my block done.  It is beautiful but it was very challenging to me.  I must be dyslexic because I did everything backwards while making this block.  It is beautiful though and it was worth the pain of making it.  Here is a picture:

This is going to be a beautiful quilt when it is finished.  I hope you are enjoying it as much as I am.  Although it is challenging it is worth it once you see it completed,    Here is the link to the block on Quilterscache:

As I told you before, please send me a picture of your block when you have finished it.  I would love to see your blocks.

That's all for now, will be back with more details as soon as I have some new changes completed.
